Award winning Artist, Sharon Zielich Ferguson discovered a passion for art in 1993 while pursuing a degree in Visual Arts at Cape Cod Community College. She continues to expand her horizons and artistic capabilities by participating in local and regional workshops and also studying abroad in Ireland, France, and the United Kingdom with fellow artists. Her landscapes, florals, still life and portraiture reflect the harmony and joy of moments in time.
Sharon and her husband, Tom, were both born and raised in the Hudson River Valley area of New York State. They continue to reside on Cape Cod where they owned and operated The Old Harbor Inn of Chatham from 1988 until 1996. Retired from inn keeping, Sharon is able to pursue her artwork and several other interests which include interior design, photography, sailing, needlework, travel and together-times with her two married children, three grandchildren and extended family. Sharon has participated in Christian Youth and Women’s Ministries and numerous civic organizations throughout her various career experiences. As an accomplished instrumentalist, she enjoys playing the piano and cello, and studying the harp. She has been a member of the Chatham Band from 1992 to 2007 where she played the baritone/euphonium horn. Her passion for music is incorporated into her artwork as she strives to “Render the Rhythm of Life” in various media including watercolor, oil, pastel, pen and ink, graphite and colored pencil. She is a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Association, the Creative Art Center of Chatham and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod where her work has been awarded in various members’ exhibitions. She is also a member of Cape Cod Waterworks Fine Arts, Guild of Harwich Artists, and an Associate Member of the American Watercolor Society and New England Watercolor Society.
